During my training as a sports scientist I began to develop a keen interest in physiotherapy, which resulted in me completing a four-year training to qualify as a physiotherapist. While working as an assistant at the University Sports Institute and as a physiotherapist, I observed that particularly competitive athletes frequently suffer from overstrain and sports injuries, which unfortunately, all too often can lead to the early end of a sports career. Based on my personal experience as an active sportsman, I know that differentiated and thereby highly effective preventive measures can be successfully applied in all areas of the body susceptible to common sports injuries. In order to further develop my skills, I decided to do my research on physical injuries and their causes in competitive athletes for my doctoral (PhD) dissertation, which I successfully defended at the Institute for Physical Rehabilitation in 2002.
During my work as a physiotherapist I became increasingly interested in osteopathy, as this fascinating form of therapy with its broad spectrum is extremely effective in the treatment of patients. Thus, following my completion of various other training courses, I commenced my five-year training as an osteopath at the Flanders International College of Osteopathy (FICO). Osteopathy is a holistic body therapy in which the therapist uses his hands to diagnose and treat patients. This holistic treatment method is used to restore the patient’s mobility and freedom from pain. Our body has extraordinary self-healing powers which can be activated with the help of osteopathic treatment.
Enthusiasm for my profession, which has always been and still is the driving force behind my actions, is reflected in my diverse treatment methods and satisfied patients.
